Product Description
LTR Conductivity Measuring Device For Coolant Solutions For Hybrid & EV Vehicles
Coolants that are currently used in cooling systems of diesel, petrol, CNG or electric vehicles fulfill the following main tasks:
- rapid heat dissipation and heat supply (cooling and warming – temperature control)
- Corrosion protection of all wetted parts in the cooling system and thermal management
- Frost protection and overheating protection
- Protection against deposits
The water mixed into the coolant concentrate plays an important role. This added water should be demineralized.
Insulating fluids are increasingly being used in hybrid, electric and FC vehicles . The use of high-voltage components always goes hand in hand with the use of insulating media (oils, coolants, etc.), e.g. insulating POE compressor oils in HV vehicles.
Even coolants that are increasingly being used in thermal management systems/cooling systems in HV and FC systems have these insulating properties.
In thermal management systems of fuel cells and special high-voltage systems, special ready-to-use coolants are used that fulfill another main task.
- rapid heat dissipation and heat supply (cooling and warming – temperature control)
- Corrosion protection of all wetted parts in the cooling system/thermal management
- Frost protection and overheating protection
- Protection against deposits
- electrically insulating properties (very low conductivity = high insulation)
The use of conventional coolants is NOT permitted in the applications mentioned here and will cause irreparable damage.
Mixtures of conventional coolants and coolants with very low conductivity [µS/cm] are also not permitted.
The majority of ready-to-use coolants are used for this purpose, as (electrically insulating) deionized water is generally not available in workshops.
The manufacturer’s information must be strictly observed.
These coolant mixtures are significantly more expensive than conventional coolant mixtures from internal combustion engines, for example. It is therefore worthwhile to carry out a detailed and documented measurement of the critical conductance parameter.
If the conductance of the coolant increases significantly, this can lead to short circuits within the EV, for example.
Therefore, the coolant must be replaced as soon as an increased conductivity is measured in the coolant.
The ion exchanger (if fitted) of the cooling circuit/thermal management system usually has to be replaced at the same time as new coolant is used.
The LWM 01_LR measuring device from Autotestgeräte Leitenberger GmbH is the optimal solution for making an informed decision as to whether and when the coolant and the ion exchanger filter (if fitted) need to be replaced.
The conductivity measuring device LWM 01_LR is a true all-rounder for checking the quality of coolant solutions.
