GMTO Ignition System Training Board

GMTO has developed a system board that allows the testing of all types of pencil coils using a scope and realistic signals as in practice.

The system is suitable for scope training and basic and advanced gasoline engine management training. The system board includes 4 pencil coils of different types, connected to 4 spark plugs in a chamber that can be quickly pressurized using a compressor to simulate compression end pressure. The ignition signal then looks like that in a car.

Additionally, faults can be created on all coil connections using interruptions, resistances, or closures, and there are opportunities for the participant to measure alongside using satellite boards. This allows for the simulation of changing conditions in the engine and gaining practical experience in checking ignition systems.

The board consists of the following components:

• Sparks visible live.
• Pressure around spark plug electrode adjustable using adjustable pressure chamber.
• Primary and secondary measurable.
• Different ignition systems, direct and indirect, and different connections.
• Different electrode distances per spark plug.
• Board is prepared to introduce faults experimentally by the participant/user buy using the fault jumpers
• Series current measurement and with current clamp possible.
• Available with 1, 2, or 4-channel scope for measurements.
